My name is Eboni Joi and I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Bitten by the acting bug at the tender age of 10; I have been hooked ever since and have over 15 years of teaching/directing experience. A great deal of my professional training and creative inspiration was
gained while a member of the world renowned Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. There I made the
decision to one day have my own adult theatre company and Acting Studio.
After performing in several productions with Mosaic, Plowshares Theatre
Company, community theatre and a 6 month tour with Nickelodeon’s “Mr. Wizards
Science Show”, I moved to Los Angeles to hone my
craft at the American Musical and Dramatic
Academy.
Soon after graduation I performed in productions of "Bridge to Teribithia" and "Call For Back-up". In early 2011 I
launched my own African American theatre company called Onyx Theatre Company
where I recently wrapped an ensemble production of "A Black Woman Speaks" by Beah
Richards in which I directed, starred in and produced. Now, in lieu of
manifesting my dreams I am launching the all inclusive Eboni Joi Acting Studio to
share what I have learned throughout the years and aid as many others as possible in fine tuning their craft.
